Why the dock exists
It Has To Go Somewhere.
The ring comes off. At the sink, at the bench, before the gym. So it goes on a windowsill, into a pocket, onto the edge of something. That is where rings actually get lost. Not overboard and not in a shop accident, but two feet from where you put them down.

THE MATERIAL
6061-T6. Cut from solid.
The same alloy as the buckles
6061-T6 aluminium is what GRIP6 has been machining belt hardware from since the beginning. The dock is not a new supply chain, it is the existing one pointed at a different part.
Machined, not cast
Cut from solid billet on the Utah floor. There is no seam, no glue line and no pressed-in insert to work loose.
Softer than what it holds
Grade 5 titanium is substantially harder than 6061 aluminium. Over years, the dock wears and the band does not. That is the right way round.
Anvil is new. GRIP6 is not.

Will it scratch the ring?
Everything wears eventually, diamond included. Titanium is highly scratch resistant, not scratch-proof, and we are not going to tell you otherwise. What the dock decides is where the wear goes.
Grade 5 titanium is substantially harder than the 6061 aluminium the dock is machined from, so over years of the ring going in and out it is the dock that picks up the marks. That is deliberate. A band worn every day should end up looking worn, and the cheap part is the one that should age first.
Is it included with a ring?
With the Rifled Anvil Band, yes: it ships with a matching dock in your ring size. With the Standard band, the dock is an optional add-on.
